The US Ambassador to Cambodia Patrick Murphy and Phoeurng Sackona, Minister of Culture and Fine Arts, presided over a signing ceremony last Friday to commit a $450,000 grant from the US Department of State Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation (AFCP), for the preservation of the 10th century Phnom Bakheng Temple.

An ancient road that connects Phnom Bakheng and Roluos, two of the surviving architectural sites of the Angkorian region, will be restored and preserved as a living heritage.
Located atop a 60-metre high hill, Phnom Bakheng is a popular tourist spot for its magnificent sunset views over Angkor Wat.
For the past 17 years, the US Embassy in Phnom Penh has been proud to support the World Heritage Foundation’s conservation activities at Phnom Bakheng with more than $4 million from the US Ambassador’s Fund.
