Eastern-based forces battled troops loyal to the Tripoli government in the outskirts of Libya’s capital on Wednesday as thousands of residents fled the fighting.
A warplane attacked Tripoli’s only functioning airport as eastern forces advancing on the Libyan capital.
Fighting has resumed in Libya. The eastern Libyan military commander Khalifa Haftar ordered his troops to advance on the capital city of Tripoli controlled by the UN-recognized Government of National Accord.
Libya has been politically unstable since 2011 when a successful uprising against Muammar Gaddafi’s longstanding regime left a power vacuum.
