Cambodian Athletes Prepare for 17th Asian Games

PHNOM PENH, September 19, (Khmer Times) – The Cambodian delegation are on the hunt for medals at the 17th Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea today.
 
The contingent, headed by Chef de Mission Nhan Sokvisal, numbering 24 delegates, including 15 athletes who will be competing for medals, left Cambodia on September 15 and arrived in Incheon at 06:30 Korean time Cambodia has failed to win any medals since the two silvers and a bronze they picked up back in the 1970 games in Bangkok.
 
Taekwondo star Sorn Seavmey will lead the Cambodian contingent at the opening ceremony of the games which begins today.

 
“Sorn Seavmey will carry our flag. She is the most worthy candidate among all our athletes following her success at the last Southeast Asia Games, and one of the medal hopefuls for this event,” said Vath Chamroeun, the Secretary-General of the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia.
