Logging charges

Seven men have been accused of illegal logging following two separate raids in Kampong Thom province.
 
Provincial environment department chief Top Kakada said four of the defendants – Bat Khly, 51, Dy Pheap, 37, Khom Leum, 35, and Thai dorn, 31  – illegally entered Prey Lang wildlife sanctuary in Sandan district and were caught with three chainsaws and one homemade tractor.
 
Three others – Svay Sao, 33, Oeun Puth, 29, and Chorn San, 26 – were similarly caught in the act and arrested at Boeung Per sanctuary in Staung district.
 
Court prosecutor Ith Sothea said all seven were in custody and had been charged with clearing the forest and illegal logging.
