PHNOM PENH, August 20, (Khmer Times) – Since the end of World War Two Cambodia has had no less than 36 prime ministers. Chhay Sophal’s book, “Who are the 36 Prime Ministers?”, discloses interesting and little-known facts about  Hun Sen’s predecessors.

At his book presentation on August 20, he told some of the stories about the long-gone, mostly unknown and/or forgotten, prime ministers of Cambodia. His approximately 600 page long book goes into detail, but it suffices to say that many a prime minister was killed.  Some went into exile – never to return.

The Cambodian National Rescue Party’s Sam Rainsy is also mentioned in the book.  Although he has never served as prime minister, the accounts of his six-year struggle to get elected and all the surrounding problems and intrigues make for interesting reading.
