THE boss of a karaoke shop in Preah Sihanouk province was charged yesterday with beating a tuk tuk driver and injuring him seriously after an argument over parking.
The deputy director of the LHR gas station network, Ngoun Leng, when asked to comment insisted his company had already made safety a priority.
Military police officer Hong Sarith said victim Khieu Saroeun, 35, parked his tuk tuk near the shop entrance.
Show owner San Sady, 24, told Mr. Saroeun to move the vehicle because it was disturbing his business. Mr. Saroeun refused, and the pair argued.
“The suspect got angry at the victim for cursing him,” Mr. Sarith said.
Mr. Sady allegedly returned to his shop and brought out a big piece of wood, with which he started hitting the victim repeatedly on the face and head, causing serious injuries.
“After beating the victim, the suspect fled. He was later arrested by local military police,” Mr. Sarith said.
Mr. Sady faces up to two years in prison if convicted.
