The Health Minister has ordered civil servants to prioritise the implementation of new social security services for public officials, former government workers and veterans, which came into force at the start of this year.

Mam Bun Heng issued a statement on Saturday informing health administrators across the country that public officials, former government workers and veterans would be eligible for free healthcare at state health centres and hospitals from now on.

“When they use these services they must show the card issued by their employers and their national identification cards,” Mr Bun Heng said.

Mr Bun Heng said the package of healthcare services for officials and veterans would be the same as that available to garment workers.

“Public health institutes must take note and keep documents related to services used by public officials, former government workers and veterans in order to request payment from the National Social Security Fund,” he added.

The NSSF has so far registered more than 43,149 village chiefs, vice-village chiefs and village representatives to receive health equity fund services at state hospitals free of charge.

It has also registered more than 11,572 commune council officials throughout the country who are eligible for the same services.
