Chinese Premier Li Keqiang is set to arrive in Cambodia next week for the 2nd Mekong-Lancang summit and an official state visit.
Foreign Affairs Ministry spokesman Chum Sounry said that Mr Keqiang will join the Mekong-Lancang summit on January 10 and pay an official visit the following day, when a number of documents are expected to be signed.
“Both parties are now working on what documents will be signed,” he said. “We will issue a press release later.”
China is one of Cambodia’s top donors in aid for social and economic development, so the visit is expected to bring more aid agreements.
On his Facebook page yesterday, Prime Minister Hun Sen said that many Chinese businesspeople will also accompany their premier and seek investment opportunities in Cambodia.
