Preah Sihanouk Provincial Police, on Thursday, arrested an Australian who allegedly unlawfully detained his girlfriend and four other people in his house. Two of them claim that he held them for sexual services.
The suspect has been identified as James Bernard King, 55 years old, and the victims are the suspect’s 38-year-old girlfriend, Yu Kea, her sister, her niece and two children.
The police chief, Major General Choun Narin, said that they received information about persons being unlawfully detained at a rental house in Commune 3. The police went to investigate but were refused entry to the premises by the suspect.
After getting warrant from the prosecutor, the police cut off the lock on the door, entered the house and brought the suspect and the victims to the station for questioning.
According to the police, Ms. Kea accused her boyfriend of illegally locking her and the others in the house. She said, “He did not allow us to leave the house unless my sister and my niece agree to perform sexual acts with him.”
Maj. Gen. Narin said that the suspect confessed to locking them in the house, but not to the sexual accusations. The police are keeping the suspect in custody and will send him to court.
