Ignite Talks or Ignite is a public speaking platform made up of fun and inspiring presentations. It was started in 2006 by Brady Forrest and Bre Pettis. Ignite has become an international phenomenon, with Ignite events organised in over 350 locations around the world. From the United Kingdom to Germany, Finland, Egypt, India, China, Korea, Japan, Vietnam, and Australia, Ignite has become an international phenomenon. Ignite was licensed to Cambodia for the first time in 2016 as Ignite Phnom Penh.

Over the past two years in Cambodia, Ignite Phnom Penh has drawn about 31 speakers and 1,500 people from various sectors such as university and high school students, companies and NGOs as well as public sector representatives. Those attendees learned lessons presented by successful speakers from diverse backgrounds.

Ignite Phnom Penh will be held for a third time on Jan. 14, 2018 at the Cambodia-Korea Cooperation Centre, from 1pm to 5pm.

Speaking at a press conference for 2018, Chea Sokhy, co-founder of Ignite Phnom Penh, said that the reason that he brought Ignite to Cambodia was to strengthen the public speaking abilities of students and to offer all Cambodians a chance to share their perspectives publicly. The topics are related to education, inspiration, the keys to success, and life’s goals.

“The interesting thing about Ignite Phnom Penh is, each speaker has only 5 minutes and 20 slides in their presentation. It requires speakers to prepare in advance and presents them with challenges. Therefore, speakers will learn new experiences that help them to manage time accordingly in their speech,” said Mr Sokhy.

He added that Ignite Phnom Penh 2018 will draw 15 speakers, some of whom have many years of experience in social work and some of whom are students from university and high school in Phnom Penh. They will share their experience and knowledge.
