Police are searching for a foreigner suspected to be the owner of a black box found in front of Phnom Penh International Airport on Saturday with more than 400 pieces of dried marijuana inside.
Touch Vibol, a Por Senchey district police officer, said the box was found in the gardens in front of the airport.
Mr Vibol said witnesses sitting in the garden saw a foreigner leave the box in the garden and then head into the airport.
“Our investigation shows the suspect wanted to bring the drugs by air to his country, but was afraid the suitcase would be X-rayed and reveal the drugs, leading him to abandon it in front of the airport and flee,” he said.
Police are still trying to discover the suspect’s identity.
