The Civil Aviation Training Center (CATC) of the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation (SSCA) will set up to 26 training courses in 2018 after 261 trainees successfully participated in 2017’s 15 courses.  It called for participants from the SSCA and civil aviation at the seminar on Friday.

Director of the CATC Lim Kao said that Cambodia is working closely with international aviation to adopt and comply with international standards and regulations. “Since the civil aviation sector is rapidly growing and technology advances day by day, we need to further upgrade our capacity.  And we [CATC] prepare these courses following that principle in order to reach international standards and qualifications.”

“We would like to inform to all companies and institution involved in civil aviation to send their staff or officials to join the training as it is important to enhance their competence […] and to fulfil the requirements of the international aviation sector,” Mr Kao added.

The CATC has been in operation since October 2013 striving to enhance professional skills for Cambodian civil aviation and establishing an efficient management system for human resources. Training programs cover a wide spectrum of subjects.

Mr Kao said, “I strongly hope that the civil aviation training center will be able to [… train] airline staff from baseline to upper level, reducing the number of staff sent abroad to train. At the same time, we are also stepping into a phase of technological innovation […] to achieve better results in the future.”
