The Cambodia-Eurasian Economic Union Business Forum 2017 started at the Sokha Phnom Penh Hotel and Residence, in cooperation with the Ministry of Commerce, the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce and the Russia-Singapore Business Council.  The forum aims to pave the way for businessmen and investors to explore opportunities and forge new alliances, with the support of their respective governments.

The involvement of the private sector is important since it is the engine of economic growth; it fosters economic cooperation, pursues more comprehensive business and investment cooperation, and particularly supports the opening of new markets through the negotiation of a Free Trade Agreement between Cambodia and the EAEU.  This should generate plentiful and sizeable opportunities for the private sector in both emerging economies.

The 150 participants will explore various sectors such as tourism, agriculture, healthcare, information technology, port and airport infrastructure, construction, garment and textile manufacture, and SEZs.

Mr Sorasak sees Cambodia’s fast growing economy , young and dynamic workforce, abundant natural resources, pro-business government, strategic location, preferential trading treatment from the EU, USA, China, and Japan,  connectivity with major trading partners like ASEAN and ASEAN partners, as incentives for investment and trade.

“Cambodia’s investment environment is one of the most open in the world.  It offers many competitive investment incentives to investors, with foreign and local investors being treated equally under our investment law,” Mr Sorasak said.
