A provincial police report identified them as Ka Sinoun, 24, Yim Bunly, 29, Dim Sarom, 32, and Ka Ny, 29.

“These trees are thnung wood grown on the villagers’ land,” Mr Ngounly said.

Police seized one truck, three saws, an axe and some timber at the house of a fifth man, Soy Thol.

The four suspects were sent to the provincial police where they confessed to their crimes. Police also plan to summon Mr Thol to question him over his involvement in the case.
