More than 200 workers from the Gawon Apparel Co in Kandal province’s Takhmao town blocked the road in front of their factory during another protest on Thursday to demand their wages.

Prak Chanthon, an official with the Coalition of Cambodia Apparel Worker’s Democratic Union, told Khmer Times on Thursday morning that the workers came out again to protest and demand their salaries for November. He said the company had also cut their wages.

“When the dates for them to get the salaries come, the workers often come out to protest because the company does not pay them on time and the company also cuts some of their benefits and bonuses as well,” he said.

The protest is blocking Road 21B in Takhmao town, causing a traffic jam.

Last month, 500 workers from Gawon Apparel protested over unpaid wages, while officials from the Labour Department suggested the company find a solution.
