A businessman was charged yesterday by Phnom Penh Municipal Court for importing counterfeit cosmetics from Vietnam to sell in Cambodia.

Investigative judge Pich Vicheathor identified the man as Sean Ravuth, 33, living in Phnom Penh’s Por Senchey district.

Seng Chantha, a police officer with the Ministry of Interior’s central committee against fake products, said Mr Ravuth was arrested on December 3 after police raided his cosmetics shop.

The accused was selling counterfeit cosmetics of the Vietnamese DiTi brand.

Police found about 100 kilograms of fake DiTi lotions in his shop.

DiTi’s owner filed a legal complaint against the suspect.

Mr Ravuth has been sent to prison pending the result of his trial.
