The Labour Minister has called on business owners in the informal and formal sectors to register with the National Social Security Fund before December 31.
Ith Samheng said registration is essential so that workers can receive health insurance through the Health Equity Fund, plus maternity benefits for female workers.
“Business owners that have not yet registered their workers should do it as soon as possible at the NSSF headquarters in Phnom Penh and in the provinces,” said Mr Samheng.
He said that those who do not register will be held accountable to the law, since all staff are entitled to NSSF benefits.
“We expect business owners to comply with their duties responsibly,” he added.
The NSSF this week begun registering local village officials and their constituents in order to facilitate Health Equity Fund services from the government.
NSSF officials said they will try to complete the registration across the country this year.
