China has pledged to build a school for Cambodian air defence forces in Kampong Speu province, as well as other military assistance.
Major General Zhao Tianxiang, Commander of the Air Defence Force and Artillery Academy of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army, said China will build a large air defence school in Kampong Speu as it continues to strengthen ties with the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces.
“The Chinese People’s Liberation Army has reformed its army, and the reform includes the expansion of cooperation between the two armies of China and Cambodia,” Maj Gen Zhao said during a meeting with RCAF commander General Pol Saroeun on Monday.
“We will support the Thlok Tasek Military Institute with army professors, residential buildings, training fields, and will examine the practical needs of the air defence and artillery headquarters to help support both their spirit and material for the training of human resources for these entities to be better.”
Gen Saroeun said the continued support of China in all sectors will help the country overcome any challenges while making reforms.
Other Chinese military aid to Cambodia includes equipment for coping with protesters such as metal helmets, protection shields, cattle prods, shoes, clothes and military trucks.
