A 50-year-old Vietnamese woman was yesterday convicted by Phnom Penh Municipal Court and sentenced to a year in prison for operating an illegal gambling den in Phnom Penh.
Judge Theam Chanpiseth identified the convict as Tan Phany.
“The court decided to sentence her to a year in prison,” said judge Chanpiseth.
He added that Ms Phany was arrested on November 20.
Keo Veasna, a Russey Keo district police officer, said police raided Ms Phany’s rented house in Russey Keo commune while she was selling lottery tickets to customers.
“She was arrested red-handed while she was selling tickets to her gamblers,” he said.
