A Kampong Thom provincial military police officer is being forced to issue a public apology to Kampong Thom High School teachers after he cursed at them for instructing his daughter to change her clothes to match the school uniform.

In a petition from more than 100 teachers at the school, the teachers ask Prime Minister Hun Sen to make the officer, Sous Sovanna, apologise.

The teachers explained that Mr Sovanna’s daughter came to school wearing jeans and a shirt covering the school uniform, which was against the school rules, so the teachers wanted her to change.

However, Mr Sovanna was confused about the teachers’ intentions and became enraged, they said.

Mr Sovanna could not be reached for comment.

Hang Thol, provincial military police commander, said his unit was having a meeting about the case.

“We are going to have the meeting tomorrow. As I know, his superior already agreed to him giving the public apology,” Houn Vanith, deputy provincial governor, added.
