A Laotian national was charged yesterday for transporting nearly two kilos of crystal methamphetamine from Laos to Cambodia in Stung Treng province.
Seng Sarun, deputy chief of the provincial Anti-Drug Trafficking Unit, identified the suspect as Soriyavong Pok, 28.
The suspect was arrested in Santepheap commune on Friday.
Mr Sarun said Stung Treng Provincial Court charged the suspect with drug trafficking and he faces a life sentence if convicted.
“He was arrested by the provincial anti-drug police while in possession of the drugs, “ he said.
He added that according to the suspect’s confession, he was hired by an unknown Laotian man for $500 to bring the drugs to an unidentified Cambodian man in Stung Treng province.
