A truck concealing a large timber cargo was busted by military police in Pursat province on Wednesday.
Puth Bunchhoeun, district military police chief, said that while the operation was successful, the drivers fled and no arrest was made.
“We have already sent the evidence and reported it to the higher level,” he said.
Eng Hy, spokesman for the National Military Police, said that he could not give an amount for the timber seized because the case was still under investigation.
He said the evidence and wood seized were sent to the forestry administration. District forestry officers could not be reached for comment.
Local media described the timber as kranhoung wood, a very valuable quality. There were 1,673 pieces, equivalent to 7,398 kilograns.
