Daun Penh district police are hunting a suspect accused of strangling his girlfriend early yesterday at a guesthouse.
District police officer Leng Vichetr said the victim’s body was discovered by a cleaner at the Ponleu Pich Guesthouse at about 4am.
Mr Vichetr said that the suspect’s identity and that of the the victim was not yet known, but noted the guesthouse owner said the pair were boyfriend and girlfriend.
The victim’s body was found naked, and stripped of all possessions, Mr Vichetr added.
Mr Vichetr said the suspect left the guesthouse at about 3.30am, alone on a motorbike.
“According to an examination of victim’s body, before her murder, she and the suspect had sex,” he said.
“After having sex, the suspect killed her by squeezing her throat. After the killing her, he stole her luxury phone and jewellery, and fled.”
Mr Vichetr pleaded for any family missing a member to contact police to help authorities identify the victim.
