Lee Chae-rin, South Korean pop music starlet, has been announced by Smart Axiata as the next international music icon to arrive in the capital for the December instalment of its Smart Mega Concert series.

Lee, better known as “CL”, is best known for her work as leader, rapper, and vocalist of the Korean supergroup 2NE1.

CL has been the recipient of numerous awards for her songwriting and performances. Last year Time magazine dubbed the
26-year old as the “future of K-Pop in America”. She is also slated to release her first English-language album. The lead single, Lifted, appeared in iTunes’ top 30 hip hop/rap chart after its release last year.

She will take the stage after performances by local Cambodian artists Nikki Nikki, Adda, Bross La, Tena, SWSB, The Mustache Band and P-Sand.

In a video message to fans released yesterday, she said she was eager to perform in the kingdom.

“I’m super excited to visit Cambodia for the very first time on December 9th. See you guys there!”

Thomas Hundt, CEO of Smart Axiata, who is responsible for bringing the likes of Demi Lovato, Jessie J and Rain to Cambodia, was thrilled to announce the news of CL’s arrival.

“The popularity of K-Pop in Cambodia is huge. I am very pleased that we are able to bring another Korean superstar to Phnom Penh,” said Hundt. “A few years ago, we made a promise of bringing regularly, top-class and most exciting performers to our loyal subscribers. Here we go: after Demi Lovato, Jessie J and Rain, another superstar – CL – is coming to perform for our beloved customers!”

. .

South Korean K-Pop legend Rain made his Cambodian debut earlier this year headlining the Smart Mega Concert on Koh Pich in front of 40,000-50,000 fans.

The Smart Mega Concert CL will be held on December 9 at Koh Pich at 6pm. Smart has made available two concert pass options to its subscribers, which can be obtained at selected Smart shops. Those attending are advised to collect their tickets before the event day.
