Phnom Penh: Tens of thousands of Cambodians from around the country benefited this year from the Metfone-TYDA CSR cooperation to provide free medical checkups and treatment.

Metfone, Cambodia’s leading telecoms company, has joined with TYDA, Samdech Techo Youth Volunteer Doctors’ Association, since 2015 to provide free healthcare services to the Cambodian people.

So far this year, some 60,000 people from different parts of the country benefited from this CSR work.

Metfone’s deputy general manager Nhong Dinthan said the company was quite satisfied that its CSR support improved Cambodian people’s health.

“60,000 people benefit from our social work. This is amazing. We are very happy that our support helps improve people’s health,” said Mr. Nhong Dinthan.

“Metfone commits to continue to join this humanitarian mission in the year to come to provide people with free medical checkup and treatment,” he added.

Metfone has been doing business in Cambodia since 2009 and has since been one of the biggest private supporters of CSR activities in the country.

Mr. Nhong Dinthan said, “For Metfone, we always believe that Business development should go with social responsibility and we have been doing this for nearly 10 years.”

Metfone has also carried out some other CSR activities in various areas such as medical, education, sport, and humanity. The CSR activities include “It’s Not a Dream, Metfone Cambodian Leagues, Internet to School.”

Metfone entered into Cambodia’s telecoms market in 2009 and has now become the country’s leading mobile phone network operator. Currently, it serves nearly 97% of the country’s total population.
