Police in Phnom Penh’s Sen Sok district arrested a petrol station worker on Tuesday night over allegations he defrauded his employer out of more than $5,000.

Phnom Penh Thmey commune chief Soeung Siem yesterday said the suspect cheated the money from the Savimex petrol company.

“According to the complaint, the suspect was given $15,000 to pay the company’s suppliers,” Mr Siem said.

“He was given the money to clear the payment but did not do so. He paid some of the bill and used the rest of it for himself.”

The suspect Chan Ratana, 32, posted a video online and confessed to cheating his employer out of $5,650.

Mr Siem said Mr Ratana was sent to the Sen Sok district police office. A police official confirmed the suspect was still being questioned.
