Two staff members of the Cambodian Beer company were arrested on Monday for allegedly stealing four cases of beer from the company’s warehouse in Por Senchey district.

District police officer Sath Vibol said the pair were Lin Ros, 22, and Say Soeun who worked at the warehouse in Thmey commune.

He said that on Monday night the pair brought 500 cases of beers by truck from the warehouse to distribute to the company’s clients in Phnom Penh. It was part of a regular run.

“While they were moving 500 cases of beer from the warehouse, they stole another four cases for their own use,” he said. “They were arrested after the warehouse manager counted the cases of beers left at the warehouse and found four were missing.

“The stolen beer was found with them in the truck.”

He said the company had reported losing more than 200 cases of beer from the warehouse in recent months.

The company had monitored all staff who brought beer from the warehouse to clients.

The suspects have been detained at the Sen Sok district police station, accused of theft.

They will be sent to the municipal court for questioning today.
