At first glance, the newly inaugurated, one-stop entertainment complex that is Naga2 seems worlds away. A fleet of Rolls Royces are parked on the sidewalk ready to ferry hotel guests to wherever they fancy.
The Naga2 complex, according to its Chairman, Mr. Timothy Patrick McNally, is a sign of moving forward. It reflects Cambodia’s continued progress and the nation’s ability to ensure the continued influx of foreign capital.
The soft opening is to be officiated by the Minister of Tourism Dr. Thong Khon and to be graced by the 10 ASEAN Ambassadors to Cambodia.
With the latest expansion, NagaWorld complex features a world class integrated resort with an investment cost exceeding USD1.5 billion. It includes 1,700 hotel rooms, a 2,200 seat theatre, MICE facility, numerous dining and entertainment options, duty free shopping and gaming facility.
“NagaCorp has made significant contribution towards the Cambodia’s economy and nation building. In 2016, the company accounted for about 3% of the national GDP and approximately 25% of the hotels and restaurants sector GDP,” pointed out and added that the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility and sustainable development have remained as its hallmark.
“We have trained more than 20,000 school leavers through our own Naga Academy under various internship programs from urban and rural areas for hospitality related jobs. As of 30th June 2017, our employee number has exceeded 7,000 and amazingly more than 90% of them are Cambodians.”
Naga2 has a total built up area of about 120,000 square meters, 3,800 square meters of retail space at the NagaCity Walk operated by China Duty Free Group.
In a tour for local and international media yesterday, it is evident that as soon as the blast of cool air conditioning hits the face, guests are spoiled with a plethora of choices.
Whatever the guests at NagaWorld desires, bring it on. Fancy a spa and a siesta? Sure, there are more than 900 rooms and 65 spa suites available on site.
Last, but not least, is the range of food on offer. Guests will not only be able to eat, but eat well with whatever cash they have on hand.
But first, the bar. After all, this is one of the first things guests see upon entering the premises, in addition to the chimes of the slots and the ever-present screens that allow guests to view various entertainment screening while they dined.
The Golden Horizon has on display a wide selection of liquor which reflects the sort of clientele they’re aiming to attract – wealthy tourists who want to stray off the well-beaten path.
Guests who fancy a more low-key celebration after hitting the jackpot are also spoilt for choice. For those with a propensity for vocal gymnastics, Naga2 has private karaoke rooms in Club 888 that span two floors, which can be booked separately or as a whole.
With sweeping and stunning views of the confluence of the rivers, this venue gives other karaoke joints a run for their money. Be aware though that the club’s top floor is not due to open until next year.
“The opening of Naga2 is a celebration, not just for the Nagaworld family, but for all Cambodians,” said Mr. McNally.
“Through our projects and future works, we want to let the world know that there is still gold to be found in the Mekong Delta.”
