Police in Kampong Chhnang province have arrested three men for illegal fishing.
Provincial deputy police chief Loch Vannara said the men were caught red-handed with prohibited fishing equipment in Baribo district’s Chhnok Trou commune.
“Officers on patrol found them fishing and they were also using electric shock fishing rods, which are prohibited by the law,” he said.
The three were named as Chhorn Sat, 19, Rem Chet, 15, and Hing Han 18, all of whom live in Baribo district.
Mr Vannara said police sent them directly to court, not the fisheries department, because they were caught in the act.
Local media reported that the men had been detained in custody pending trial.
