The National Military Police along with the officers from the General Department of Customs and Excise seized more than 2,400 smartphones smuggled into the country from Thailand yesterday in Preah Sihanouk province.
Sun Sophat, anti-economic crime bureau chief with the provincial police, said that the raid, near Dek Kaul Island, was conducted on shore and his forces were not involved.
A report from the military police said the phones were found on a boat from Thailand that was stopped near Dek Kaul Island.
The phones were packed in 14 cases and included Samsung and LG brands.
Eng Hy, spokesman for the National Military Police, said the phones were handed over to customs officials to take action against the owners.
