A 29-year-old manager of a vehicle spare parts warehouse was charged yesterday with stealing parts worth more than $5,000.
The investigating judge at Phnom Penh Municipal Court sent Chan Sinath, 29, to Prey Sar prison awaiting further investigations.
Mr Sinath was charged by the court prosecutor with stealing from the warehouse of the Chinese company in Tuol Kork district’s Beung Salang commune.
District police officer Sath Long said Mr Sinath arrested on Sunday after a complaint by company owner Zhao Shunwu, 32.
Mr Long said that according to the plaintiff’s lawsuit, Mr Sinath stole 60 cases of spare parts worth more than $5,000 from the company.
“The plaintiff found out they were missing after he inspected the warehouse. A few days later the suspect stopped working with the company,” he said.
After realising that the suspect had stolen the parts, Mr Zhao filed a lawsuit against him in May.
