King Norodom Sihamoni issued a decree on Monday promoting 21 police colonels to the rank of brigadier general.
Interior Ministry spokesman General Khieu Sopheak said the king issued the decree following a request from the government.
He added that some of the police had reached the required age for statutory promotion.
“The promotions were also based on their achievements at work and in maintaining security for the nation,” Gen Sopheak said.
Four lieutenant general police officials – Touch Naruth, Mak Chito, Khun Sambor, and Him Yan – were earlier this month promoted to the rank of general, while 28 military officers were given jobs as brigadiers and lieutenant generals.
