Despite going ahead through Ngwa Baldwin Afanwi in the 14th minute, Police were pegged back in the 20th by Sok Chanrasmey, who pounced on a loose ball in the box to level the score.
However, against the run of play, EDC were gifted with the win with two minutes of the first period remaining as Police defender Ouch Panhaseth turned the ball into his own net after misjudging a cross into the box.
The win sees EDC leapfrog AEU into ninth place, giving them a five-point cushion from the dreaded relegation zone. Police, meanwhile, stay unchanged comfortably mid-table on 7th. Only five games remain for clubs to seal their fate for the season.
