One man was injured when he and his siblings were ambushed by thieves attempting to steal their fishing nets yesterday along the Tonle Sap lake in Pursat province’s Krakor district.

District police chief Em Run said that police were seeking the arrest of multiple suspects that have recently been robbing fishermen.

“It was the same thieves stealing the fishing nets,” he said. “This incident involved a fight too, but the victim was in good condition and right now we are searching for the robbers as we have some clues according to the evidence provided by the victim.”

The National Police identified the three siblings as Mao Cheat, 24, Mao Bunthoeun, 20, and their sister Mao Chanra, 15.

Mr Cheat suffered head injuries when he was trying to take back 60 nets and one pumping machine from the robbers.

Mr Run said that the suspects came on two motorboats with about six to seven people. He said that the thieves conducted similar raids last week in the same area, leading to the arrest of their ringleader and the seizure of three boats.
