The Health Ministry has warned of legal action against a self-proclaimed healer who claimed to be able to cure deaf, mute and paralysed people without medication or physical contact.

The warning came after video clips spread on social media showing Chea Sok Heng, who claimed to be a healer, curing patients in both Cambodia and Vietnam.

Health Minister Mam Bun Heng said the healer’s claims were false and people should not trust him and be wary of being cheated out of money.

“As a Minister of Health, I would like to declare that I have never accepted the curing practice of Chea Sok Heng as a medical practitioner,” he said.

Mr Sok Heng, who lives in Phnom Penh’s Chbar Ampov district, could not be reached for comment yesterday.

Police chief of Chbar Ampov 1 commune Hun Sophal said he had never received any complaints about the man.

“Previously, he healed ill people for a short time in my commune and now he’s gone elsewhere,” he said.
