A Vietnamese businessman and his Chinese wife were yesterday charged by Phnom Penh Municipal Court with illegally importing cosmetics to sell in Cambodia.
Khy Veasna, a senior police officer at the Interior Ministry, said the couple were arrested after the Central Committee Against Fake Products raided their shop in Chamkarmon district on Saturday.
The suspects were identified as Chen Sokha, 52, and his wife Chen Jinhua, 42.
They have both been charged with importing products without a licence.
“They illegally imported the cosmetics from Vietnam and did not pay the relevant taxes,” Mr Veasna said.
During the raid, police confiscated about 100 kilos of cosmetics.
Separately on Friday the National Police urged care with whisky purchases after authorities found fake liquor on sale.
