Uniformed officials get higher ranks

Four national police officials have been promoted to general while 28 military officers were promoted to brigadier and lieutenant general.

According to a royal decree Lieutenant Generals Touch Naruth, Mok Chito and Khun Sambor, as well as Him Yan were promoted to general in the National Police.

Interior Ministry spokesman Khieu Sopheak said they were promoted due to their good work.

“When they do good work, they get promoted,” Mr Sopheak said.

Separately, 28 military officer with the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces were also promoted by royal decree, including Hun Manith, director of the Defence Ministry’s Intelligence Department, who was promoted from Major General to Lieutenant General.

Defence Ministry spokesman General Chhum Sucheat said the 28 promotions reflected each individual’s rising abilities.

“Generally, this is a promotion in rank based on internal rules,” he said. “They are all officials that have had good achievements.”
