A former judge at the Kandal provincial court has been appointed as the director of the Royal School for Judges, a position that has been empty since 2013.
According to a royal decree signed by King Norodom Sihamoni on Friday, Keng Somarith will take up the post at the Royal Academy for Judicial Professions, on orders from Prime Minister Hun Sen and the Supreme Council of Magistracy.
Justice Ministry spokesman Chin Malin said the Royal School for Judges has been without a director since 2013.
Prior to that date, it was under the control of the Council of Ministers, as opposed to the Justice Ministry.
Mr Somarith has been working at the Justice Ministry for the past year, since leaving his post at Kandal provincial court.
“He is a young person with the ability to lead this school,” Mr Malin said.
