The Economic Crime Bureau and provincial police on Tuesday raided a shop in Battambang town that was illegally distributing products solely contracted to a different company.

The raid followed a complaint from Pich BT Trading Company, which holds the exclusive rights to distribute body washes made by Lano and Laviy, which were confiscated during the raid.

Battambang town police chief Pang Heang said the shop broke the law.

“The products were sold in violation of the company’s distribution rights,” he said.

Mr Heang could not confirm the amount of the products seized.

The National Police reported that the shop belonged to Heng Chhay Ly.

It said police seized three cases and four bottles of Lano and Laviy products at the shop, along with 97 cases at a nearby warehouse.

Koy Heang, chief of the Battambang provincial economic crime office, said the two parties are in the process of negotiating a settlement.

“We cannot just arrest the owner if the company and the seller reach an agreement,” he said. “The company could withdraw their complaint and the case would be closed.”
