Six security guards with the Borei Phiphop Thmey Company were arrested on Sunday over the attempted murder of a 38-year-old businesswoman in the Borei Phiphop Thmey Apartment in Sen Sok district’s Kork Khlaing commune.
Leng Sopheak, a Sen Sok district penal police officer, identified the suspects as Var Visal, 18, Saban Pheaktra, 24, Sok Toeu, 20, Prak Vanny, 36, Ros Varn, 21, and Thy Than, 31.
Mr Sopheak said at about 4.30am on Sunday, Kim Sophonwathana, 38, was found seriously injured, unconscious in a pool of blood on her apartment bed by her eight-year-old daughter.
The daughter then called her father, who had been at work since 3am, Mr Sopheak said.
“According to our investigation, the suspects have beaten and nearly killed the victim in order to steal her property,” said Mr Sopheak.
“After the victim lost consciousness, they probably thought that she was already died, so they collected her money and jewellery and fled.”
Mr Sopheak said that the six were arrested by police, who had found their bloodied security guard uniforms and boots inside the victim’s house.
Mak Hong, Sen Sok district police chief, said the six were still being questioned by police.
“Police are working on this case and questioning them over the attempted murder,” he said.
“We will send them to court after completing their questioning.”
