The Ministry of Interior yesterday launched its new television station NICE TV that will focus on broadcasts related to crime crackdowns and government achievements.
NICE TV is a joint establishment between the Ministry of Interior and a Chinese firm, NICE Culture Investment Group.
General Mao Bunnarin, director-general of General Department of Logistics and Finance, which will control NICE TV, said the television station started a trial run in April and was officially launched yesterday.
According to Gen Bunnarin, $9 million has been invested in the station, including $3 million for a seven-floor building to serve as its headquarters for 300 staff, $4 million for equipment and $2 million for its operation.
Minister of Information Khieu Kanharith said the station is the 23rd to be established within the country and will allow for cultural exchanges between China and Cambodia.
Minister of Interior Sar Kheng said NICE TV will focus on security, but will also include entertainment and other news coverage.
“I would like to ask relevant institutions and police to cooperate in giving information to the television station of the Ministry of Interior,” he said.
