Chinese officials from Jiangxi province are to support Chinese language lessons for the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces.
On Saturday, Cai Xiaoming, vice chairman of the Jiangxi provincial political consulting assembly, held a meeting with Lieutenant General Mao Sophan, commander of RCAF’s brigade 70.
During the meeting, an agreement was reached for Chinese officials to provide Chinese language lessons to the brigade at its Phnom Penh base. “I fully support creating Chinese language training classes for brigade 70,” Mr Cai said.
He said that Jiangxi province will send teachers and materials to teach soldiers in the brigade.
Defence Ministry spokesman General Chhum Sucheat said the ministry supports the agreement reached for brigade 70.
“Increasing Chinese language training for the military is good because it creates a bridge for soldiers to continue further studies in China,” he said.
