Phnom Penh Municipal Court on Saturday charged a man for unauthorised weapons possession after a security guard spotted a grenade in his motorbike at the Cho Ray Phnom Penh Hospital in Chbar Ampov district.
Pov Sarith, a Chbar Ampov district police officer, said Lo Pichdarith, 33, on Wednesday travelled to the hospital to visit his sick father and left a package inside his motorbike.
The security guard watching the parking area noticed the suspect had put a package in his bike and also forgot his keys.
The security guard used the keys to open the bike’s compartment and discovered a grenade, after which he notified local police, who came to arrest the suspect.
Mr Sarith said the suspect has been detained at Prey Sar prison and during his interrogation claimed the grenade belonged to his brother, who is a soldier with the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces.
