Vietnamese man accused of trafficking drugs

A Vietnamese national was charged with drug trafficking on Saturday after his red-handed capture while attempting to transport 11 kilos of marijuana from Takeo province into Vietnam.

Long Sopheak, a Takeo province anti-drug police officer, said that Nguyen Thanh Chi, 47, was arrested on Thursday while transporting the drugs through a Cambodian-Vietnam checkpoint in Som commune.

“He was arrested red-handed while he transported the dried marijuana,” Mr Sopheak said.

Mr Sopheak added that immigration police made the arrest and the suspect has now been detained at the provincial prison.
