A Venezuelan woman faces questioning in Siem Reap Provincial Court today after being caught smuggling nearly a kilo of cocaine in her stomach.
Police said Katerine Flores Gonzalez, 27, swallowed more than 100 packages of the drug in Brazil before flying to Cambodia.
Provincial anti-drug police chief Brigadier General Oum Amara said: “She was arrested at Siem Reap International Airport after police X-rayed her stomach and found drugs hidden inside.”
She arrived on Sunday after transferring flights at Dubai and Bangkok.
Suon Buntha, an officer with the provincial anti-drug police bureau, said that Ms Flores Gonzalez denied being a drug trafficker when questioned at the provincial police station.
“But she confessed that she was hired by a man in Brazil to bring the drugs to an unidentified man in Thailand by taking them across the border from Cambodia,” he said. “She confessed that before her arrest she had taken drugs ten times to other countries by swallowing them.”
