A police officer and a taxi driver were arrested for drug use and trafficking in Kampot province in the early hours of yesterday morning.
Deputy Kampot police chief Louk Nheav identified the two as Bun Dara, 35, an officer with the provincial police, and Hun Sovann, 31, a taxi driver.
They were arrested at about 1.30am after police raided Mr Dara’s house in Kampong Bay district.
“They were arrested while they were smoking drugs inside the house,” Mr Nheav said. “Police seized seven packages of crystal methamphetamine, one shotgun and other related drug materials from the house.”
The two suspects were preliminarily accused of three charges; drug use, drug trafficking and the illegal use of a weapon.
They will appear in the provincial court for questioning tomorrow and face up to three years in prison if convicted.
