Eight people who ran a popular karaoke shop in Siem Reap province were charged yesterday with drug use and possessing more than 10 grams of crystal methamphetamine.
The eight staff from the Pyramid Karaoke shop were charged by the provincial court prosecutor.
Provincial anti-drugs chief Um Samarth said the eight were disc jockeys Sock Thai, 23, and Touch Narino, 35, managers Meas Ratana, 20, and Hoeun Darika, 28, English guides Sar Ratana, 26, and Taing Singuong, 31, and staff members Uy Samneang, 23, and Sim Davy, 27.
He said they were arrested after provincial anti-drug forces raided the shop in Khnar Thmey village late on Monday.
After their arrests, police seized a package of crystal methamphetamine weighing 10.2 grams, two drug scales and other drug materials.
“They were arrested while they were smoking drugs inside the karaoke shop,” Mr Samath said.
After their arrests, police tested their urine, all of which returned positive results for drugs.
All have now been sent to prison awaiting trial.
