Phnom Penh employers are demanding increasingly qualified candidates to fill management posts, according to data relating to the last two years.
A report on the issue was compiled by online career platform Everjob, based on more than 2,500 management job descriptions published on everjobs.com.kh.
After analysing hundreds of skills in the job descriptions of management opportunities, Everjobs identified the key things that companies want in a manager.
“It comes without a surprise that planning is the first most in-demand skill when looking for the perfect candidate for a managerial position. It was mentioned in 23 percent of the job opportunities of this category,” said a press release on the data.
Planning was said to involve major responsibilities, including being able to forecast as well as to set up and maintain processes within an organisation.
Those skills were immediately followed by the ability of being a good sales and marketing professional, according to the report.
Budget management and operational expertise were also essential to professionals in line for managerial positions, it said.
Divotsna Jangir, business development manager at Everjobs Cambodia, said the firm has seen a surge in demand for management candidates in recent years.
“Over the years we have been able to gather and analyse data revealing the main labour market insights of the kingdom.
“We have observed that management has been a popular category among job seekers in Cambodia since Everjobs started in 2015, attracting close to 7,000 applications over a period of two years.
“We have also seen it appear as one of the top job categories offering the highest number of vacancies in Cambodia quarter after quarter since then,” she said.
