Stung Treng provincial police on Thursday arrested a Lao man they said was involved in drug trafficking in the province along the Cambodia-Laos border.

The suspect was named as Pheng Phanangor, 50. He was arrested between border posts 035 and 036 in Siem Pang district and police seized two big packages of drugs weighing more than two kilos.

Provincial Police Colonel Kong Kimsrun said the suspect was being questioned at the police commissariat and could be sent to the court on Friday evening.

“The suspect confessed that he just delivered these drugs and he said he was told that after crossing the border, there would be people waiting to collect the packages,” Col Kimsrun said, adding that the packages weighed 2.12 kilos and contained methamphetamine.
