A suspected drug trafficker wanted by Malaysian Interpol was arrested Wednesday afternoon at his rented house in Chhbar Ampov district.

Deputy chief of the anti-drug department In Song said Freeman Selby Dean, 34, from New Zealand, was hiding from Malaysian forces for drug offences committed in 2012.

“He was a drug ringleader in Malaysia, but fled and was hiding in Cambodia,” Mr Song said. “He was arrested by our police in accordance with a report from Malaysian Interpol. We have spent over two year’s searching for him.”

No drugs were found on Mr Dean, but police seized two expired passports from him.

Mr Song said the suspect was being questioned by police, but will be transferred to Malaysian Interpol if he did not commit any crimes during his time in Cambodia.
